Boot Scooting for a Cause
Dancing and music were two of Ama's favorite pastimes and when she passed away from lung cancer in 2006, her granddaughter Veronica Sanchez wanted to do something in memory of her. Boot-Scooting For A Cure was born and with the help of Veronica's family, they were able to have its first event in 2008. Proceeds from this event went to the Health, Hope and Healing Cancer Resource Center and Hill Country Memorial Hospice. This was a way to give back to these organizations that helped Ama through her sickness and the family after her passing. The family also wanted to bring cancer awareness to the local community. In 2009, Boot-Scooting For A Cure became part of the Austin Community Foundation and changed its name to Boot-Scooting For A Cause. It is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit group and is a special project fund under ACF, http://www.austincommunityfoundation.org. Anyone can donate at anytime and Boot-scooting For A Cause appreciates your donations! All proceeds now stay in the Central Texas Area and each year, it will benefit organizations in need. Boot-Scooting For A Cause has become an annual event with two dances to look forward to! Look on the Home page for upcoming events!! We hope you can attend one of these fun dances to benefit Central Texas! Thank you so much for stopping by!!
